Under the ARC Professional Year Program, the Internship (work experience component of the PY program) is GUARANTEED and will commence IMMEDIATELY upon completion of the structured training component of the Professional Year Program.The internship will take place in an Accounting Firm thereby ensuring that you gain “relevant work experience”.

The program aims to improve the professional and practical skills of international students, who have successfully completed and hold an Australian University accounting degree, to gain employment in accounting in Australia. By successfully completing the SMIPA program, participants may attract an additional five (5) points towards permanent residency of Australia under General Skilled Migration.

The Accountants Resource Centre SMIPA program has been designed by accountants and employers from contemporary Australian public accounting firms and is delivered in co-operation with the Australian Institute of Entrepreneurship. Our program’s prime focus caters to meet the real needs that currently exist and may arise in the Australian accounting industry of the 21st century. Accordingly, the entire program content has been centred around, specifically adapted and designed to fulfill current work requirements as well as future perceived needs as and when they arise in this industry.

In addition to DIAC and the three professional accounting bodies’ requirements, the Accountants Resource Centre will give its participants an added bonus, not available elsewhere, when it introduces participants to its unique Accounting In-house Practical Training to SMIPA program.  This will enhance our participants’ experience and give them even further insight into the accounting world and its functioning as participants will gain a high quality work experience from the 12 week internship program, and thus allowing them to maximize their opportunity to successfully obtain employment in the Australian accounting industry, therefore achieving their goal.
